Martin 'Buddy' 'Coach' Wiltz, Jr.

St. Martinville - A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Martin J. "Coach" Wiltz, Jr., 81, who passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017, at Iberia Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7:00 am until 10:00 am on Saturday. A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am on Saturday. Rev. Michael Sucharski SVD will officiate at the Funeral Service. Eucharistic Ministers will be Paul and Mary Jackie Narcisse. Readers will be Gloria Fiest and Melanie Sam. Gift Bearers will be Danielle Lewis, Tricia Lewis and Kimberly Narcisse. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville. Martin "Buddy" Wiltz, Jr. was a lifelong resident of St. Martinville, and he was a strong advocate of education. After graduating from high school, Buddy attended Southwest Louisiana Institute (SLI) where he obtained his bachelor's degree in Education. Subsequently, he obtained his master's degree from Southern University. Martin was a teacher for the St. Martin Parish School System. He taught Social Studies and Physical Education for 34 years until his retirement in 1994. Martin, or "Coach", as many in the community knew him, had a passion for helping others. During his free time, he enjoyed his time as a referee for Junior High School basketball games. He taught Adult Education, Driver's Education, and oversaw the youth summer program for many years. After his retirement, he was inspirational in helping his son start his postal contract business, DAW Trucking. He also worked alongside his son until 2004. Buddy's love for his children and grandchildren was evident in his smile whenever he saw them. His words of wisdom have carried them through their life's difficulties. His many years, as an educator, has helped to mold so many lives. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving spouse, Fannye Peare Wiltz of St. Martinville; son, Demarcio Wiltz, Sr. and wife Denise of Lafayette; daughters, Vanessa Wiltz Randall and husband Charles of Lafayette, Kasandra Wiltz Lewis and husband Darrel Lewis, Sr. of Lafayette, LaVersa Wiltz and companion Charles Johnson of New Llano; brothers, Gabriel Wiltz, Sr. and wife Barbara of Houston, TX, Patrick Wiltz and wife Rosemary "Blanche" of Houston, TX; sisters, Anna Mae Mouton and husband Hillman Mouton, Sr. of New Iberia, Mary Jane Thomas of St. Martinville, Mary Jackie Narcisse and husband Paul of St. Martinville and Theresa "Earline" Lewis and husband Bradley Lewis, Sr. of Houston, TX; sister in law, Susie Wiltz of Houston, TX; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 4 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Wiltz, Sr.; mother, Anna Alexander Wiltz; brothers, Marshal Wiltz and Anthony "Johnny" Wiltz, Sr.; sister, Shirley Ann Mouton, mother in law, Josephine Johnson; and brothers in law, Jerome Thomas and Horace Mouton. Pallbearers will be Darrel Lewis, Jr., Hillman "Tony" Mouton, Jr., Gabriel Wiltz, Jr., Bradley Lewis, Jr., Kevin Kately, and Keevy Narcisse Sr. Honorary pallbearers will be Demarcio Wiltz, Sr., Demarcio Wiltz, Jr., Gabriel Wiltz, Sr., Patrick Wiltz, Charles Randall, Darrel Lewis, Sr., Charles Johnson, Hillman Mouton, Sr., Paul Narcisse, Bradley Lewis, Sr., Dr. Milton Kleinpeter, Sr., Milowe Kleinpeter, Milton Kleinpeter, Jr., Louis Green, Aaron Flegeance, Winnfield Ledet, and Harry Roberts.
