St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, June 21, 2019, at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Mary Margaret Alexander, 74, who passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Carpenter House in Lafayette.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7:00 am until 10:45 am on Friday.
Rev. Michael Sucharski, SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Adrianne Alexander and Dana Alexander. Gift bearers will be Jasmynn Charles and Jaedynn Charles.
Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Mary Margaret, lovingly known as "T Margaret", was born in St. Martinville to the late Walter, Sr. and Goldie Orphe Alexander. She loved to sew, cook, and bake. T Margaret was a care giver by heart and by trade. Although she did not have any children of her own, she loved the children she cared for like they were hers. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her brothers, Ceril (Louis) Alexander and wife Gloria of Opelousas, Mark (Albert) Alexander and wife Louella of St. Martinville, Russell Alexander of St. Martinville, Charles (Herman) Alexander of St. Martinville, and John Alexander of Baton Rouge; sisters, Anita Ledet and Felecione (Anne) Alexander, both of St. Martinville; her foster daughter, Alicia Wiltz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walter "Doc" Alexander, Sr.; mother, Goldie Alexander; and her brother, Walter Alexander, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Byron Alexander, Cornelius Williams, Jonas Alexander, Calvin Wiltz Jr., Marvin Ambroise Jr., and Wayne Wiltz.
