Breaux Bridge - Mary Ann Melancon, beloved aunt, great-aunt, and devoted member of the community, peacefully passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023, at the age of 86. Born on October 29, 1937, in her beloved hometown of Breaux Bridge, Mary Ann was cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Mary Ann was an accomplished accountant at Borden's for 33 years. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mary Ann was known for her unwavering faith as a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church. She had a great love for animals and music, especially The Rolling Stones and Hank Williams, Jr.
As a pillar of strength within her family, Mary Ann lovingly took care of her many nieces, nephews, and their children. Her selflessness, wisdom, and unwavering support made her a role model to all. Her impact on their lives will be treasured and passed down through generations. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her nephews, Ricky Degeyter (Barbara), Mike Melancon (Gayle), Chris Melancon (FeFe), Franny Melancon (Sandra), Mark Melancon, Troy Melancon (Susan) and Todd Melancon (Melissa); nieces, Donna Ham and Sally Comb (Danny); sister-in-law, Thelma Melancon; great-nephews, Ryder Degeyter, Hutch Cormier, Blaine Garcia and Blaisen LeBlanc (Shelbe); great-nieces, Billie Robin, Brittney Guidry (Shane), Kristy Degeyter and Chelsie Jernigan (Jason); and great-great-nephew, Andon Robin.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Louise Melancon; sister, Hazel Degeyter; brother, Earl "Pete" Melancon; nieces, Vickie Garcia (Bill) and Irene LeBlanc; nephews, Kimmy Melancon and Danny Degeyter; and nephew-in-law, James Dale Cormier.
