New Iberia ;- Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, on Friday, June 26, 2009, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia, for Mary Theresa Badon, 75, who passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 in New Iberia. ;
Entombment will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum. ;
Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate. ;
Born on January 15, 1934 in Enniscorthy, County Wexford, Ireland, Mrs. Badon was a graduate of Mary Immaculate Training College, in Limerick, Ireland, and a graduate of U.S.L. in Lafayette with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, a Masters Degree, and Educational Specialist Degree. She was a retired teacher, having taught for over 20 years in Iberia Parish, including many years at Lee Street Elementary and Daspit Elementary. An avid gardener, Mrs. Badon was a member of the New Iberia Garden Club, and also the Theresians, a womens spiritual group. ;
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Joseph Donald Badon of New Iberia; son, Eamon Badon of New Iberia; daughter, Majella Badon Kilgore of Georgetown, Texas; brothers, Bro. Pius McCarthy, FSC of Dublin, Ireland, Joseph McCarthy of Limerick, Ireland; sisters, Theresa Griffin and Kathleen McCarthy both of Limerick, Ireland, Carmel Bray of England; grandchildren, Jack Badon of New Iberia, Deanna Kilgore of Austin. ;
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nora Creagh McCarthy; a brother, Sean McCarthy. ;
The family would like to give special thanks to Kathy Scott, Camille Jarrell, Hazel Delahoussaye, and Beth Pharr for their friendship, love and support, and also to Dr. John Bolin, Dr. David Rinaldi, and the nurses and staff of Louisiana Oncology Associates, Dr. Carl Ditch, Dr. Perri Prellop, and the nurses and the staff and nurses at OncoLogics, and Dr. Jacob Lahasky, Thomas J. Landry and Associates Physical Therapy, Tony Quinn of Quinn Physical Therapy, and to Rev. Ed Degeyter for the extraordinary care and compassion that was given to Mrs. Badon. ;
A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Thursday. Visitation will continue Friday from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM. ;
