Mary Louversa Baltazar

Arnaudville - Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville, for Mary Louversa Noel Baltazar, who passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at her home surrounded by the loving presence and prayers of family and friends. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Pellerin Funeral Home, 314 St. Landry Street, Arnaudville, on Friday, May 4, between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. and also on Saturday, May 5, from 7 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A rosary will be recited on Friday at 7 p.m. Rev. Keenan W. Brown, pastor of St. Catherine of Alexandria and St. John Francis Regis Catholic church parishes, will officiate at the funeral service. The scriptures will be read by Juliesa Edwards. Mrs. Baltazar was a lifelong resident of St. Martin Parish and a member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Church where she served as a lay minister of the Eucharist prior to a decline in her health. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and preserving their home grown fruits and vegetables. She enjoyed working with her church family and she especially enjoyed visits from relatives, who could always count on her for a delicious meal whenever they stopped by. For her, every day was a holiday and a reason to keep family together. She was very kind and generous and leaves a tremendous legacy of loving kindness. Mrs. Baltazar is survived by her loving husband, 90-year-old Percy Baltazar, who attended to her every need during good times and throughout her brief illness. She also leaves one son, Henry J. Broussard of Arnaudville; four daughters, Mildred Mallet (late Walter Mallet Jr.), Mary Ann Broussard (late Joseph Mabram Thompson), and Barbara Broussard (Russell), all of Arnaudville, and Orida Edwards (Jules III) of Lafayette; one sister, Daisy Emma Noel (Hebert Batiste) of Arnaudville; two brothers, Calvine Noel Jr. and Alvin Noel, both of Lafayette, one sister-in-law, Clarisse Noel (late Hilton Noel Sr.) of Breaux Bridge; seven stepchildren, Priscilla Baltazar, Harold Baltazar, and Mary Regina Baltazar, all of Cecilia, Yvonne Berard and Cornelius Broussard, both of Breaux Bridge, Cecile Alfred of Carencro, and Antoinette Broussard of Lafayette; 17 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Calvin Noel Sr. and Daisy Harris Noel Thibodeaux; her former husband, Henry Broussard; two brothers, Carlton Noel Sr. and Hilton Noel Sr.; two sisters, Lita Mae Noel and Lillian Gordon; four brothers-in-law, Albert Baltazar, Rogers Baltazar, Russell Baltazar, and Gussie Baltazar; seven sisters-in-law, Barbara Breaux Noel, Rita Holloman, Theresa Sassau, Anna Baltazar, Grace Baltazar, Hilma Baltazar, and Priscilla Noel; three grandchildren, Brian Keith Mallet, Alisa Faye Mallet, and Martini Broussard; and two great grandchildren, Tre' Dale Mallet and Logan Mallet.
