Mary Ann Castaneda

St. Martinville - A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville for Mary Ann Castaneda, 62, who passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at her home surrounded by her family. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Tuesday. A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 am on Tuesday. Rev. Bill Melancon will officiate at the Funeral Service. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Mary Ann was a very kind and giving person who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She often opened her home to welcome any child that was in need of a hot meal or a place to stay for a while. Because of her generous and compassionate nature, she could never refuse anyone. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino and spending time with her family and friends. Mary Ann will be missed dearly by all those whose lives she has touched in such a unique and special way. She is survived by her husband, Mario Castaneda; sons, Melvin Curtis, Jr. and wife Alchia of TX, and Joshua Melancon of St. Martinville; daughter, Vanessa Castaneda and husband Yoni of St. Martinville; parents, Antoine and Doris Melancon of St. Martinville; brothers, Paul Melancon and wife Cathy of IN, Rene' Melancon and wife Janice of Parks, and Antoine Melancon Jr., and wife Jackie of Youngsville; sisters, Sarah Bonin and husband Alvin of New Iberia, and Jean Boudreaux and husband Gary of Breaux Bridge; grandchildren, Alex, Jalena, and Jake Castaneda, and Mia and Mya Curtis. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Rene' and Eucharist Melancon, and maternal grandparents, Lilte and Elphge Theriot. Pallbearers will be Johnny Castaneda, Mario Castaneda, Joshua Melancon, Melvin Curtis Jr., Gary Boudreaux Jr., and Antoine Melancon Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Rene' Melancon, Paul Melancon Jr., and Alvin Bonin.
