Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Mary Tauzin Champagne, 87, who passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2013. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Tuesday, and continue at 7:00 am until 10:30 am on Wednesday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Tuesday. Rev. Allen Breaux will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Mrs. Champagne, along with her late husband, Antoine, was the owner of Champagnes Grocery Store in Breaux Bridge for 37 years prior to her retirement. She knew her customers on a first-name basis and enjoyed serving them all. When Mary wasnt working, she loved cooking and baking for her family and friends, especially during the holidays. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church. She is survived by her son, Henry J. Champagne; two daughters, Dianne M. Champagne and Debbie C. Badeaux and her husband, Mike; her grandson, Kevin P. Poirrier; and her great-granddaughter, Kalyn R. Poirrier, all of Breaux Bridge. She is preceded in death by her husband, Antoine Champagne; her parents, Antoine and Laura Babin Tauzin; two brothers, Clarence Tauzin and his wife, Emily, and Murphy Tauzin; and her step granddaughter, Rachel B. Bonomi. Pallbearers will be Kevin P. Poirrier, Mike Badeaux, Bobby Ayo, Clay Tauzin, Roland Tauzin, and Jerry Master. Her family would like to extend special thanks to her caregivers, Anna Serrette, Evelyn Allemond, and Virgie Lewis, as well as to Dr. Deidre Stelly, the staff of St. Martin Hospital, and Hospice of Acadiana.
