Breaux Bridge A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Mary Odelia Joe, 59, who passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at St. Martin Hospital.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:00 am until 10:00 am on Saturday at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary will be recited at 8:00 am on Saturday.
Rev. Joseph Campion will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Jessica Parker and Daija Joe. Gift Bearers will be Krislyn Joe and Kiarra Calais. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia.
Marys passion was cooking and she worked in the restaurant industry for a number of years and also worked at Martin Mills for five years. She was meticulous about her house and loved family gatherings, gardening, and shopping with family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Johnny Joe (Ashley) of Lafayette; four daughters, Bertrina Joe (Dwayne), Korena Joe (Patches), Angelica Joe (Christopher), and Selita Joe (Tyler); three brothers, Ronald Joe, Bobby Joe, and Gary Joe; two sisters, Tilly Roberts (Bob) and Marjorie Joe, all of Breaux Bridge; 13 grandchildren; her godchildren, Jessica Parker, Dominic Jackson, and Bryan Batiste; a special niece who was like a daughter to her, Lee Anna Calais; and her special neighbor, Sophie Shy, who was like a sister.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Joe and Ethel Frederick Joe; three brothers, Patrick, Linton and Willlie Joe; five sisters, Earline Bruno, Willie Mae Monette, Morella Joe, Vesta Joe, and Verley Singleton; a niece who was like a sister, Ethel Joe Noel; and her nephew, Willie Ray Joe.
Pallbearers will be Jason Noel, Patches Alexander, Christopher Calais, Johnny Joe, Carlos LeBlanc, Carlos Roberts.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
