Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Mary Lou Poirier Touchet, 79, who passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018, at Louisiana Extended Care Hospital.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Wednesday and continue on Thursday at 7:00 am until 10:00 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Wednesday.
Rev. Stephen Pellessier will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be April Touchet and Sidney Breaux. Gift Bearers will be Taylan Vining, Kalee Breaux, and Bryn Touchet.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Mary Lou, better known as "Lou", was born in Breaux Bridge to the late Henry and Claudia Babin Poirier. She enjoyed watching “The Young and Restless” and “The Golden Girls”. Lou loved spending time with her family and friends and loved spoiling her grandchildren, and her grand dog, Buffy. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Roderick Touchet, Sr. and wife Vereska; daughter, Lila Touchet; grandchildren, Chad Breaux, Theresa Breaux, Roderick Touchet, Jr. and spouse April, Joshua Touchet, Sara Broussard and spouse Brent, and Christina Huval and spouse Chuck; great grandchildren, Leagan Breaux, Taylan Vining, Kalee Breaux, Sydney Breaux, Jacob Breaux, Bryn Touchet, Amelia Touchet, Gage Broussard, Victoria Huval, Aiden Broussard, Payton Broussard, Riley Broussard, and Phillip Huval.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Roderick Touchet; mother, Claudia Babin Poirier; father, Henry Poirier; siblings, Velma, Wilfred "Loon", and Raymond Poirier; and niece, Cindy Poirier Thibodeaux.
Pallbearers will be Chad Breaux, Jacob Breaux, Rod Touchet, Sr., Rod Touchet, Jr., Joshua Touchet, and Gerald Poirier.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Poirier, Randy Poirier, Terry Poirier, Kenneth Poirier, Rickey Poirier, Russell Poirier, and Jimmy Poirier.
