St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Mary Joyce Robertson Narcisse, 63, who passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia.
Interment will follow at Praise Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a wonderful cook who loved to prepare meals for her family. She also enjoyed visiting, talking on the phone, and dancing and listening to Zydeco music. Mary will long be remembered for the love she had for music, which kept her smiling - her smile would brighten up any room. A devout Catholic, she would often tell her family and friends to "Always Pray".
Survivors include her husband, Harold Narcisse, of Lafayette; four sons, George Alexander, Jr. (Amanda), of Pineville, Clayton Alexander (Phyllis), Roy Robertson (Leslie), and Jonathan Robertson (Helena), all of St. Martinville; three daughters, Karen Gabriel (Sean), of Channelview, TX, Linda Marie Dugas, of St. Martinville, and Shavonne Robertson, of Houston, TX; her mother, Goldie Nadie Henry, of St. Martinville; two brothers, Joseph Robertson (Mary Alice), of Lafayette, and Ramsey Robertson (Irene), of St. Martinville; six sisters, Lillian Malveaux (Phillip), of Cade, Girlie Jones (Wilton), Vivian Trosclair, Josephine Roberts, Jo Anna Wiltz, all of St. Martinville, and Joyce Mae Robertson, of Lafayette; 28 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clay Robertson; two brothers, Clavis and Curtis Robertson; two sisters, Shirley Robertson and an infant sister; and one granddaughter, Centrel Robertson.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
A rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Jacoby Lewis, Sean Gabriel, Manwell Robertson, Darnell Perrio, Oliver Dugas, Jr., and Justin Robertson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Blake Perrodin and Darryl Rusk.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
