Mary Norsworthy Vercher

New Iberia - A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Pellerin Funeral Home for Mary Norsworthy Vercher, 87, who passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.

Interment will be in the Wise Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery, in Lena, LA, at a later date.

Rev. Tracy King and Rev. Geran Maples will officiate.

Visitation will be Sunday, from 10:30 am until 2:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home.

Mrs. Vercher was born on January 7, 1936, in Wilda, LA. She was the 13^th child of the late Charles Dawson Norsworthy and Laura Louella Burrough Norsworthy, who died during childbirth. Mary was a longtime resident of New Iberia, and was an active member of Westside Baptist Church, where she served as treasurer for 30 years. She was worked for the State of Louisiana and her hobbies included reading, gardening, sewing and working in her yard.

Survivors include her children, Robert Dale Vercher, Claude Michael Vercher (Rebecca Camacho Vercher), Mary Claudette Shield (Michael) and Lou Ellen White (Wayne); grandchildren, Derek Landry, Rocky Vercher, Cody Vercher, Meghan Vercher; Victoria Vercher, Samantha Vercher, Brittney White, Nick White, Kayla Vercher, and Allie Vercher; eight great grandchildren; step-children, Kimberly Vercher, Kent Vercher, Keith Vercher; and Kara Vercher.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Claude Neal Vercher and Kenneth Wayne Vercher.
