Parks- Funeral services will be held at 11 a .m. on Monday, October 11, 2010 , at St. Louis Chapel in Parks, for Mary Rose Potier, 78, who passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Meadowbrook Specialty Hospital .
Interment will follow at Union Baptist Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Fr. Stephen Ugwu, pastor of St. Louis will conduct the services.
Mrs. Potier was a member of St. Louis Chapel and belonged to the St Louis Chapel Rosary Group.
Survivors include her sons, Miles A. Potier of Baton Rouge, Whitney Potier, Jr. of Lafayette, Rodney J. Potier of Parks; her daughters, Gayle Carnell and Mary Jocelyn Mitchell both of Parks; her step-son, Whitney Bernard of St. Martinville; her brothers, Amos Williams of Lafayette and Ronnie Williams of San Diego, CA; her grandchildren, Schmecia Jeanminttte, Jermaine Mitchell, Monicka Potier, Sherie Potier, Michael Potier, Karen Mouton, Teeka Mouton, Michelle Carnell, Nicholas Potier, Tiffany Carnell, Ranessa Potier, Natalie Foster, Junius Mitchell, Alicia Carnell, Aundriel Potier and Fallon Carnell, and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Whitney Potier, Sr; her parents, John Williams, Sr. and Volina Derouselle William; her sisters, Doris Williams and Marion Williams; and her brothers, John Williams, Jr. and Richard Williams.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7 a .m. until 10 a .m. on Monday.
Pallbearers will be Jermaine Mitchell, Cody Jones, Junius Mitchell, Nicholas Potier, Michael Potier and Larry Breaux, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Amos Williams, Miles Potier, Whitney Potier, Jr., Rodney Potier, Joseph Carnell, Jerome Mitchell, Calvin Wiltz, Nicholas Sion, David Sion and Raymond Wiltz.
