St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m., on Saturday, September 27, 2008, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Mary Louise Castille Savoy, 71, who passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at Iberia General Medical Center.
Entombment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum, in St. Martinville.
Fr. Agustinus Seran, SVD, pastor of Notre Dame Church, will officiate at the funeral Mass.
Mrs. Savoy was a leader by example and generous to those in need. She was a hard worker who dedicated her time to helping others. She worked many years for the St. Martinville Nursing Home, where she would take care of elderly people. She was truly a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who lived a full and fruitful life - she gave love unconditionally.
In her last days she could be heard telling us that she was tired, tired of suffering and then her prayers were answered, her Father called her home. "For to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."
In her early childhood she was baptized at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, in Breaux Bridge. In her teen years is when she met the love of her life, Lawrence "Bobby" Savoy, her survived husband of 51 years, together their union created six children; two sons, Lawrence Savoy, Jr. and companion, Carolyn Lynn Bernard, of Lafayette, and George Savoy and Julia Simon, of San Diego, CA; four daughters, Sylvia Savoy and companion, James Vital, Cynthia Willis and husband, Albert, all of St. Martinville, Bobbie Myers and husband, Patrick, of Austin, TX, and Simone Bowens and husband, Reginald, of Hampton, VA;
She is also survived by four brothers, Noah Jones, of Breaux Bridge, Joseph Jones, of St. Martinville, Lawrence Alexander, of Loreauville, and Rogers Noel, of Raceland; her grandchildren, LaTasha Savoy, Danielle Savoy, Tori Savoy, Manielle Savoy, LaShaundra McAllister, Jason Willis, Jacoby Willis, Precilla Willis, Albert Willis, Jr., Eric Savoy, Kelly Savoy, and Ryan Bowens; and 20 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ann Castille; one brother, Harold Morale; and four sisters, Elizabeth Morale, Nola Mae Semere, Ana Castille, and Theresa Davis.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and continue at 7 a.m. on Saturday until 8:30 a.m. A rosary will be recited Friday evening.
Pallbearers will be Manielle Savoy, George Savoy, Reggie Bowens, O'Neal Robertson, Joseph Jones, and Noah Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tori Savoy, Lawrence Savoy, Jr., Troy Wiltz, and Troy Johnson.
