Lydia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia for Mary Sigue Cooper, 71, who passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at her Patoutville home, surrounded by her family.
A gathering of family and friends will be at the church from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday. A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 am.
Rev. Gregory Chauvin will be the Celebrant.
Entombment will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery in Patoutville.
Mary Diane Sigue Cooper was born in Patoutville, Louisiana on July 27, 1947 to the late Warren and Verna Lewis Sigue. She was a 1965 graduate of F.M. Boley High School in Jeanerette, and worked in the insurance industry. Mary was a fantastic organizer, especially when it came to large family picnics and other events. She was the "go-to" person in the family for all things. She also enjoyed crocheting, genealogy, and spending time with her family. Mary was a loving wife, sister, sister-in-law and friend who will be deeply missed.
Mrs. Cooper is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Arthur Cooper; siblings, Norbert Sigue of Patoutville, James Sigue and spouse Mary of Patoutville, John Sigue of Patoutville, Patrick Sigue and spouse Theresa of New Iberia, Wesley Sigue of Patoutville, Dinah Strauss and spouse Michael of Houston, and Troy Sigue of Houston; sisters-in-law, Cassandra Wallace and spouse Ronald of Maryland, and Dr. Michele Larche and spouse Todd of New Orleans; a brother-in-law, Michael Cooper and spouse Diane of New Orleans; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by two sisters, Deborah Boutte and Donna Sigue.
