New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Master Sergeant Cecil Hauser, Sr., 91, who passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, in Lafayette.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Tuesday, and will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.
A rosary, led by the Men's Rosary Group, will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Tuesday.
Rev. Bill Melancon will be the Celebrant.
Interment with Military Honors will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
Cecil Everett Hauser, Sr. was born in Lewisville, North Carolina on February 9, 1927 to the late Arlington Cecil Hauser and Elizabeth Heinsdale Hauser. He was raised on a tobacco farm, and ran away from home when he was 17 to join the Navy during World War II. He was a true patriot and loved his country. Cecil was wounded in action when the Mt. Hood Ammunition Ship exploded. He had amnesia for a year, and returned stateside. He re-enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict, and left after three years when they wouldn't send him to Korea. He then got into the oilfield and moved his family to Jeanerette, Louisiana, where he joined the Special Forces as a Radio Operator and Demolition Specialist. He developed and organized the Civil Defense System, where he was involved disaster relief. He retired from the U.S. Military as a Master Sargeant, and retired from the oilfield as a Pressure Specialist. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, VFW in New Iberia, and the Special Forces Association in Breaux Bridge. Mr. Hauser had a green thumb and could grow anything. He had great success growing fruit trees, roses and gardenias. He was an animal lover; he especially enjoyed raising Beagles, geese, chickens and ducks.
Mr. Hauser is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Rosemary Lewis Hauser; daughters, Hazel Roberts of New Iberia, Suzanne Foster and husband Tim Foster of Singer, LA, and Lisa Perry and husband Kenneth Perry, Jr. of Youngsville, LA; sons, Cecil Hauser, Jr. and wife Sherry of Dubach, LA, and John Hauser of Tallahassee, FL; sisters, Jean Custalow, Jane Layne, and Arlene Hauser; brothers, Richard Hauser and wife Catherine, Roy Hauser and wife Nancy, and Jimmy Hauser; grandchildren, Angela Hayes and husband Tommy, Sally Roberts, Jennifer Hargrave and husband Reko, Janina Bernard and husband Chad, Cecil Hauser, III and wife Jessica, Christopher Hauser and fiancee Tracie, Grant Hauser and wife Nicole, Darrell Duhon and wife Jessica, Trevor Duhon and wife Jenna, Sirena Gordon and husband Jimmy, Gabrielle Perry, Jacob Perry, and Grace Perry; great-grandchildren, Zachary Hayes and wife Becca, Joey Hayes and wife Kirsten, Amanda Corley and husband Robert, Kristian Roberts, Mallory Dryden, Katherine Dryden, Everett Hargrave, Camille Bernard, Andrew Bernard, Virginia Bernard, Samuel Bernard, Kynlee Duhon, Kylee Bourque, Eva Lee Duhon, Kendall Gordon, Kristian Gordon, Abigail Gordon, Joaquin Vega-Hauser, Sophia Vega-Hauser, William Hauser, and Jonathan Hauser; and great-great grandchildren, Koriee Bradford Hayes, Patrick Hayes, Kaiden Hayes, and Shilah Vance.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Lorraine and Ruth Hauser; and brothers, Tom and Fred Hauser.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Perry, Darrell Duhon, Trevor Duhon, Grant Hauser, Chris Hauser, and Cecil Hauser, III.
