Mathelia Poirier Dore

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Mrs. Henry "Mathelia Poirier" Dore', Sr. who passed away peacefully Sunday, April 1, 2007 at St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. Father Gary Schexnayder will be the celebrant of the funeral mass. Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Mathelia was born in St. Martinville on June 5, 1909. She was one of five children. Her parents were farmers in this area. She married the love of her life, Henry Dore' Sr. in April, 1929. They lived in Parks, Louisiana for the first few years of their marriage. They then moved to Cypress Island where they raised a beautiful family of nine children. Mrs. Dore' was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a friend to all who knew her. She always welcomed her company with a smile and with hot coffee. She was a very religious lady and was one of the kindest ladies in Cypress Island. Survivors include eight children; her sons, Dieudonne "Boy" Dore and his wife, Helen, of Golden Meadow, Henry Dore, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth "Libby", Ronnie Dore and his wife, Brenda, all of Cypress Island, Allen Dore and his wife, Nancy, of Parks; her daughters, Hazel Boudoin of New Iberia, Verna Chris and Loula Mae Champagne, of Cypress Island and Gertie Trosclair and her husband, Ellis, of Breaux Bridge. She also has one brother-in-law, Antoine Chataignier, of Coteau Holmes. She also has 38 beautiful grandchildren, Adella Barrilleaux, Steve Boudoin, Justin Boudoin, Ryan Boudoin, Georgia Boudreaux, Gale Theriot, Susan Blakely, Nancy Guidry, Peggy Johnson, Garland Champagne, Jr., Cathie Olivier, Cindy Granger, Debbie Green, JoAnn Laneaux, Geraldine Laviolette, Ricky Laneaux, Robert Laneaux, Michael Laneaux, Jimmy Laneaux, Tammy Poindexter, Connie Huval, Antoinette Gary, Perry Dore, Terry Dore, Keith Dore, Lisa Meshawne Percle, Elliot Trosclair, Jeffrey Trosclair, Sheila Trosclair, Darren Dore, Derek Dore, Rhonda Dore, Snapper Dore, Amber Dore, Brodie Dore, Bret Dore, Scot Dore, and Seth Dore. She is also survived by 67 great grandchildren, Stevie Reaux, Jessie Boudoin, Ethan Barrilleaux, Victoria Boudoin, Logan Boudoin, Jenna Boudoin, Tara Boudoin, Joel Boudreaux, Ellen Boudreaux, Abby Boudreaux, Jacob Boudoin, Joshua Boudoin, Ashley Romero, Angel Poirier, Lee Perrodin, Daniel Perrodin, Amy Green, Mandy Green, Kalli Green, Danielle Laviolette, Megan Laneaux, Morgan Laneaux, Garrett Laneaux, Joshua Poindexter, Jacob Poindexter, Heather Poindexter, Summer Laneaux, Kyle Laneaux, Christopher Hamilton, Floyd Laneaux, Robbie Laneaux, Brody Dietlein, Brock Dietlein, McKinley Gary, Hunter Huval, Brandon Huval, Kade Huval, Dylan Laneaux, Anthony Laneaux, Kayne Dore, Jonathan Dore, Dustin Dore, Jye Dore, Hannah Blakely, Sara Blakely, Emily Blakely, Matthew Blakely, Casey Champagne, Garland "Jacob" Champgane, Jr., Lydia Guidry, Collin Johnson, Grant Johnson, Kasey Granger, Nicole Granger, Christopher Granger, Alex Chris, Adam Olivier, Mina Percle, Briana Trosclair, Brennon Trosclair, Brittany Trosclair, Ellise Trosclair, Joshua Trosclair, Darah Dore, Gabe Dore, and Tatum Dore. There are seven great-great grandchildren, Aliya Dore, Lexie Reaux, Devon Poirier, Kaleo Perrodin, Bryan Perrodin, Dustin Courville, and Sadie Perrodin. She was preceeded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Henry Dore' Sr.; her parents, Lucien and Laurence Romero Poirier; her daughter, Donnedieu "Donna Dore'" Laneaux. She was also preceded in death by her sons-in-law, Wilsey Boudoin, Garland Champagne, Sr., George Chris, and Floyd Laneaux; her brother, Adelate Poirier; and her sisters, Amilena Poirier, Anna Menard, and Donnedieu "Blondie" Chataignier. The family requests that visitation be observed Monday, April 2, 2007 from 10:00 am until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at 8:00 am until service time. A rosary will be held at 7:00 pm, Monday,April 2, 2007 by Father Austin Leger. The eulogy will be said following the rosary by Shellie Dore. Readers will be Cindy Granger and Susan Blakely. Gift Bearers will be Cathie Chris and Gale Theriot. Altar Servers will be Seth Dore, Brodie Dore, Scot Dore, Briana Trosclair and Brennan Trosclair. Pallbearers will be Steve Boudoin, Garland Champagne, Jr., Ricky Laneaux, Perry Dore, Darren Dore, Elliot Trosclair, Snapper Dore, and Bret Dore. Honorary pallbearers will be her sons and her son-in-law. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
