St. Martinville- Mathieu "Big Head" Roberts Champagne, 36, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021. A Memorial Service will be held at his home on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 3:00 pm. Matt was a good man, an exceptional father, and his wife's prince charming on a tractor. He loved with the same passion as he farmed, BIG! There will never be enough space to describe the time between his dash mark and how terribly he will be missed and how much he was loved. I miss you is an understatement and I love you seems so small. There will forever be a void without you. Your love changed lives, thank you for sharing that love with us, what a ride… we just weren't ready for it to end. He is survived by his wife of 7 years, Danita Champagne; father, Rudy Champagne (Emmaline); mother, Shari Roberts; sons, Tyler Williams, Bailey Mathieu Champagne and Bohdi Mathieu John Champagne; daughter, Taryn D. Champagne; brother, Paul Fred Champagne, II; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gerald and Joan Roberts, and paternal grandparents, Fred and Mary Champagne. Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
