Mathilde Bourque Romero

St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Mathilde Bourque Romero, 65, who passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2008 at University Medical Center in Lafayette. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. MSGR J. Douglas Courville, pastor of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, will conduct the services. Readers will be Erica Poirier and Jennifer Dugas. Lexi and Lani Latiolais will serve as gift bearers. Mrs. Romero loved to sew and watch television. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially when they would stop by for a cup of coffee. She adored her grandchildren. She never would tell anyone no, she helped anyone that was in need. She was a loving and caring daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her daughters, Maria Dugas and her husband, Eric of St. Martinville and Katrina Latiolais and her husband, Kelly of Henderson; her mother, Mathilde Braquet Bourque of St. Martinville; her brothers, Leon (T-Bit) Bourque, L.P. Bourque, Michael O. Bourque all of St. Martinville and Richard Bourque of Lafayette, her grandchildren, Lee Dugas, Anthony Dugas, Lexi Latiolais and Lani Latiolais. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ulysses A. Romero, her father, Elmo Bourque, Sr.; her brother, Elmo (Sonny) Bourque, Jr.; and her sister, Lucy Bourque. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 a.m.until 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 and continue at 7:00 a.m.until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. A rosary will be recited at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Lee and Anthony Dugas, T-Bit, L.P., Michael and Richard Bourque. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Dugas, Kelly Latiolais, Lance Lopez, Harold Bourque, Gregory and Todd Bourque. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
