Coteau - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau for Matthew Elliott Pomier, 36, who passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018 in New Orleans.
Entombment will follow in the Church mausoleum.
Rev. Brian Harrington will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary, led by Sally Gary with the Our Lady of Prompt Succor Ladies' Altar Society, will be prayed at 6:30 pm Tuesday. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 am until 10:00 am.
A native and lifelong resident of Coteau, Matthew was born on July 11, 1982. He did carpentry work in his fathers business and also installed fun jumps. Matthew loved animals, especially dogs, taking in several strays. He helped numerous friends and families who needed a place to stay by sharing his home with them as long as they needed.
He is survived by his parents, Donald and Mona Decoux Pomier of Coteau; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, his beloved pappy, Doris J. Decoux, and Laura Faye Decoux, paternal grandparents, Wilfred Pomier, Sr., and Doris Pomier.
Pallbearers will be Frank Gary, Harold Doucet, Wilfred Pomier, Mark Decoux, Tony Decoux, and Russell Decoux.
Honorary pallbearers include Jerry Sewell, Josh LeBlanc, and Johnny Gunterman.
