New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Matthew Paul Romero, 25, who died Saturday, October 1, 2011 in St. Mary Parish. Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery . Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant. Born on July 2, 1986 in New Iberia , Matthew worked as an equipment operator for Dynamic Industries. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be deeply missed. Survivors include his father and step mother, Larry and Wanda Romero of New Iberia; mother, Sheila Girard Romero of New Iberia; grandparents, Minos and Evelyn Girard of New Iberia; brothers, Brad Romero of New Iberia, his twin, Joshua Romero and wife Jennifer of New Iberia; fianc, Kristin Hebert of Jeanerette; step brothers, Lance Brasseaux and Jared Luent both of New Iberia; uncles and aunts, Richard Romero and wife Suzanne, Linda Feller and husband Jerry, Diana Viator and husband Bret, Cheryl Viator and husband David, Michael Girard and wife Melinda, Tammy Vincent and husband Bobby, Michelle Speers and husband Paul, all of New Iberia, Clayton Girard and wife Jackie of Loreauville, Lisa Pisani and husband Chuck of Broussard; nephews and niece, Dalyn Romero, Kylan Romero, Brooke Romero, and Blaise Romero. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roosevelt and Bertha Romero; and a aunt, Barbara Walker. Pallbearers will be Chuck Pisani, Lonnie Meyers, Cody Viator, Randall Viator, Durke Girard, and Kevin Bouton. Honorary pallbearers include Joshua Romero, Brad Romero, Kyle Guilbeaux, and Cory Landry. A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd , in New Iberia . A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Monday.
