Delcambre - A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 8, 2019, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Delcambre for Maudry Ann Delahoussaye Romero, 75, who passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum.
Rev. Buddy Breaux will be the Celebrant.
Sacred music will be provided by Jodi Bollich. Holy Scripture will be read by Charlotte Smith and Randy Dooley. Gift bearers will be Merline Delahoussaye and Regina Baldwin.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm on Monday, with Recitation of the Rosary at 11:00 am.
Maudry was born in New Iberia on February 24, 1944, the eldest of three children born to the late Joseph Otis and Paula Reaux Delahoussaye. She married Nelson Romero on June 9, 1962, and they were blessed with one son, Brent. Maudry loved to sew and visit with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and aunt that will be deeply missed.
Maudry leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 57 years, Nelson Romero; son, Brent G. Romero and wife Erin of New Iberia; brother, Jimmy Delahoussaye and wife Merline of Beaumont, TX; nieces, Jennifer Hunteman and spouse Greg of Austin, TX, Regina Baldwin and spouse Robert of Cleveland, TX, and Sandy Touchet of Jennings; nephew, Chris Bourgeois of Lafayette; great nieces and nephews, Emily, Lauren, and Ethan Hunteman; Brittini Grillo and spouse Mason, Lindsie Long and spouse Aaron, and Kourtney Baldwin; and great-great nieces, Jaidyn and Laikynn.
In addition to her parents, Maudry was preceded in death by a brother, Chris Gene Delahoussaye.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Delahoussaye, Louis Dubois, Glenn Delahoussaye, Mike Reaux, Rand Dooley, and Carol Broussard.
Honorary pallbearers are Murphy Reaux, Ray Sonnier, Kevin Dooley.
The Romero family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of St. Joseph Hospice, especially Laura Brown and Cheryl Polite, for their extraordinary care and compassion; and to the wonderful family and friends who have offered prayers and support during Maudry's illness. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
