St. Martinville- Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville for Maurice Pierre Melancon,73, who died Sunday, March 4, 2007 at his residence in St. Martinville. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Minister Andrew Champagne will conduct the services. Maurice retired from St. Martin Bank of 13 years as a custodian. ?He served 10 years as Justice of the Peace, Constable for Ward 3 District 4. Survivors include his wife, Genevieve O. Melancon of St. Martinville; his sons, Jules Melancon and Rickey Melancon both of St. Martinville and Larry Melancon and his wife Pam Judice Melancon of Coteau; his daughter, Melba M. Decoux and her husband Randy of New Iberia, his twin daughters, Geraldine M. Guidry and her husband Leland Guidry, Jr. of St. Martinville and Florine M. Izquierdo and her husband, Guillermo ""Chico"" of St. Martinville; his brothers, Elie and Antione Melancon both of St. Martinville and Joe Melancon of Lafayette; his sisters, Rita M. Toucheck of St. Martinville and Alice M. Fredrick of Breaux Bridge; his grandchildren, Pierre ""P.J."", Chase, and Becky Melancon, Randy ""R.J."" and Crystal Decoux, Brian Melancon, Nichole Guidry, Jerry Guidry, and Jennifer M. Izquierdo. His great grandchildren, Angel Melancon, Pierre Melancon, Jr. and Dominic Mouton. ? He was preceded in death by his parents, Rene' Melancon and Euchariste Champagne Melancon; his brothers, Lawerance, Amar and Albert Melancon; his sisters, Lita M. Toucheck, Theressa M. LeBlanc and Josephine M. Latiolais. ? The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 5, 2007 until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m, Monday. Pallbearers will be Leland Guidry Jr., Larry Melancon, Pierre Melancon, Guillemo Izquierdo, Chase Melancon, and Rickey Melancon. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Melancon, Jerry Guidry and Jules Melancon. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
