Mavis "Memit" Patin

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 20, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Mavis "Memit" Patin, 90, who passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, in Breaux Bridge. 

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Cecilia on Sunday from 5:00 pm until until services the following day. 

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Sunday evening by Deacon Ken Soignier. 

Father Gregory Cormier will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Dana Patin and Tiffany Patin. Gift bearers will be Mikah Thibodeaux, Hannah Degetaire, Keenlyn Guidry and Mila Mendoza. Eulogy will be given by Cindy Robin. 

Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. 

Mavis peacefully departed this world on Wednesday, November 15th, at the age of 90, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished. Mavis lived a remarkable, yet simplistic life filled with love, family, and a little bit of chaos.

She dedicated her life to raising her fourteen children and took immense pride in her role as a grandmother/great-grandmother. One of the many ways she expressed her devotion towards her family was through her delicious home cooked meals.

With an attitude as spicy as her cooking, Mavis will be missed for her witty comments and fearless honesty that always kept us on our toes!

She is survived by her daughters, Yolanda Degetaire (Larry), Tina Guidry (Mark), and Patricia Patin; sons, Harry Lee Patin, Wallace Patin, Richard Patin, Billy Patin (Christine), and Joseph Patin, Jr.; sister, Vivian Barras; 30 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Patin, Sr.; sons, Dean Patin, Sr., George Patin, Karry Patin, and Shane Patin; daughters, JoAnna Patin and Cindy Lou Bourque; grandchildren, Chris Bourque, Mia Patin, Tristan Robin and Christian Robin; great-grandchild, Xander Cruz Robin; parents, Eugene and Yolonde Thibodeaux Savoy; and siblings, Irene Johnson, Mitchell Savoy, Alton Savoy, Cherry Savoy, and Leatrice Breaux.

Pallbearers will be Gerard Patin, Mecus Guidry, Dustin Degetaire, Tress Robin, Dean Patin, Jr., and Kiley Patin. 

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons. 

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the entire staff at the Calcutta House for their amazing care and support.
