Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in Breaux Bridge, for Maxy Roberts, 85, who passed away on Monday, June 30, 2008 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Reverend Fr. Louis Allen Breaux, Associate Pastor of St. Bernard Church, will officiate at the funeral service. Mr. Roberts was a veteran of World War II having honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Maxy loved hunting and gardening, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family. His constant devotion to his beautiful wife and daughter will always be treasured by them. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 wonderful years, Velma Melancon Roberts, of Breaux Bridge; one daughter, Sadie Roberts, of Breaux Bridge; and two sisters, Ruby R. Bergeron, of Church Point, and Nellie R. Hollier, of Breaux Bridge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony, Sr. and Edith Collette Roberts; and four brothers, Andrus, Stafford, Anthony, Jr., and Oray Roberts. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9 a.m. on Wednesday and continue until time of service. Pallbearers will be Neil Roberts, Damon Turner, Ross Dugas, Gerald Guidry, Kirk LeVasseur, and Keith Patin. Honorary pallbearer will be Elwood Hollier. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
