St. Martinville - A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville in St. Martinville for Maydell Lassere, 78, who passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 am until service time.
A rosary will be prayed at 11:30AM on Saturday.
Ronald Savoy Sr. will officiate at the Memorial Service.
In 1978 she was named Federal Women of the Year for the New Orleans area. During her membership in Civitan International, Maye was President of the New Orleans Chapter (1986-87; 1990-91) and received the Distinguished President Award each time. As Director of the LA South District (1987-88) she earned an award for Outstanding Leadership. As part of Civitan's 75th year celebration in 1972, the Civitan Club of Birmingham, Alabama The Mother Club of Civitan International (Charter #1) honored Maye as Honorary Mother in Appreciation for her Support of Civitans Principles. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, participating in community services and spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite time of the year was Carnival season in New Orleans.
She is survived by her daughter, Adele Lassere Kelly, husband Al of Sugar Hill, GA; son, Mark Lassere, wife Sandy and granddaughter, Simone Lassere of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Mazel Price Lee, husband MacArthur of Houston, TX, Rena M. Price of Irving, TX, Marie Merlin Price, husband Michael Quinealty of St. Martinville, Marthaline Price Savoy, husband Ronald of Sunset and Hattie Price Robertson, husband Jackie of Cade; brothers, Murphy J. Price, Jr. of St. Martinville and Emick J. Price, Sr. of St. Martinville.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Madeline Savoy Price, father, Murphy J. Price, Sr., sister, Janita Price and brothers, Harrison Price and Joseph Andrus Price.
