St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Mazel L. Breaux, 84, who passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Friday and continue on Saturday at 8:00 am until 9:30 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Friday.
Rev. Rusty P. Richard will officiate and Msgr. Keith DeRouen will be the co-celebrant and homilist at the Mass of Christian Burial. Gift bearers will be Mrs. Breaux's immediate family members. Reader will be Juanita Boudreaux.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Mrs. Breaux was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, where she helped to coordinate the Novena tradition and was the recipient of the Bishops Award. Mazel was an extraordinary minister, as well as being a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Ladies Altar Society, Homebound Ministry, St. Anthony Guild, and O.C.D.S. She loved spending time visiting with her family and friends. As a pastime, Mazel enjoyed fishing and growing her roses in her garden.
She is survived by her loving spouse of 66 years Randall Breaux of St. Martinville; sons, Kenneth Breaux and wife Becky of New Iberia, Randall Breaux, Jr. and wife Barbara of St. Martinville; daughter, Shotsay B. Posciri and husband Mike of St. Martinville; grandchildren, Ryan Breaux, MaRae' Peltier Romero and spouse Micah, and Braxton Breaux; great grandchild on the way, Sadie Elizabeth Romero.
She was preceded in death by mother, Virginia Arnaud; father, Etienne Laviolette; step- father, Robert Arnaud; sister, Hazel Dudash; brothers, Dennis Laviolette, Ludger Laviolette, Mabry "Joe" Laviolette, Joseph "Tee" Laviolette, and Weldon Laviolette; father in law, Felias Breaux; mother in law, Levee Romero Breaux.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Breaux, Randall Breaux, Mike Posciri, Micah Romero, Bill David, and Mike Baudoin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Breaux, Braxton Breaux, and Hunter Bienvenu.
