New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 26, 2019, at Highland Baptist Church in New Iberia for Me’kel "Kel" Espinoza, 19, who passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at Franklin Foundation Hospital.
Interment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery.
Rev. David Denton will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Thursday from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm, and on Friday from 8:00 am until 10:15 am.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Me’kel was born on July 23, 1999 and attended Highland Baptist Christian School. He worked for Axis Compressor Service and enjoyed music, skateboarding, and being outdoors.
Survivors include his parents, Jeanne' and Derrick Sandridge of New Iberia, LA; grandparents, Kathy G. Sandridge and companion Jerry Walker of New Iberia, Russell Sandridge and companion Vicki Dore of New Iberia, Stephanie and Kirk Meyers of Coteau, Clint and Stacy Breaux of New Iberia; great grandmother, Sadie Breaux of New Iberia; brothers, Brandt Sandridge of New Iberia, and Mase Viator; sisters, Precious Sandridge of New Iberia, Elizabeth Espinoza of New Iberia, Isabelle Breaux of New Iberia, Gabrielle Sandridge of New Iberia, and Maria Velazquez of Houma.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Joseph Espinoza; great grandparents, Clarence Breaux, and Stephen and Eva Landry Dugas; and his aunt, Jo Ella Kilchrist.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Breaux, Jacob Breaux, Clint Breaux, Wayne Gary, Cameron Jumonville, and Mase Viator.
The family would like to give special thanks to Police Chief Hal Hutchinson, the staff of the Franklin Foundation Hospital, the Fire Department and First Responders, the “No Flight” Crew, and to Highland Baptist Church and Highland Baptist Christian School.
