Arnaudville - Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, September 4, 2010, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville, for Melissa Roy Potier, 84, who passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge. Melissa Roy Potier, daughter of the late Eli Roy and Bertha Williams, was born on September 3, 1925 in Cecilia , LA. She was married to the late Kellis J. Potier, a farmer, businessman, and an entrepreneur. They moved from New Orleans in 1955 and made their home on a farm in Arnaudville, LA. Left to mourn her are her son, Joseph Potier (Odelia); and daughters, Rose Jackson (Henry) of Arnaudville, Bertha Lewis (Charles) of Pearland , TX , and Alice Francis of Franklin , LA. Remaining siblings are Sarah Kelly and Raymond Roy of Houston, TX. Melissa was blessed with eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She loved God and her family. Melissa was a devoted wife, mother, and caregiver to her parents and grandparents until their deaths. She gave of herself, her love, and her compassion not only to her husband and children, but also to others in the community by taking them in and providing for them. She was a great cook known for her Creole food, but cooking for just her family was never enough. The neighborhood kids and friends were always welcomed and encouraged to come be fed, loved, and given advice. She was loved by all and will be truly missed. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Pallbearers will be John Mitchell James, Kellis Charles Lewis, Clayton Guidry, Joseph Bryan Potier, Brandon Angelle, and Harold Lee Calais. Pellerin Funeral Home of Arnaudville is in charge of arrangements.
