Melva Romero

New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church in New Iberia for Melva Broussard Romero, 78, who passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018, in New Iberia. Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery. Rev. Ed Degeyter will be the Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary, led by the Mens Rosary Group, will be prayed at 7:30 pm Monday. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 am until 9:15 am. A lifelong area resident, Mrs. Romero was born on September 19, 1939 to the late Melvin and Laura Landry Broussard. She retired as a cafeteria manager from Daspit Elementary School, and she enjoyed cooking and playing Boo-Rae. Survivors include her husband, Nuxy Paul Romero; daughter, Pamela Lord and husband Tommy of New Iberia; sons, Stevie Romero and wife Margo of St. Martinville, Ryan Romero and wife Tiffany of New Iberia; sisters, Genevieve Gesualdi of New Iberia, Debbie Broussard of Crowley; brothers, Oran Broussard, Sr. and wife Melissa of Loreauville, Kerney Broussard of New Iberia; sister-in-law, Joyce Broussard of New Iberia; grandchildren, Alex Romero, Nicholas Romero, Amanda Lord Clause and husband Brad, Jamie Lord Segura and husband Michael, Payten Romero, Cooper Romero; great grandchildren, Madilyn Clause, Ava-Claire Clause, Luke Segura, Graham Segura, and one due to arrive in May. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Lester Broussard, and Michael Broussard, infant son, Ryan Paul Romero, and her best friend, Pat Romero. Pallbearers will be Ryan Romero, Stevie Romero, Nicholas Romero, Alex Romero, Oran Broussard Sr., and Kerney Broussard.
