Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for Melvenia "Benia" Reynolds, 83, who passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023, at her residence.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Tuesday from 7:00 am until 10:00 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am on Tuesday morning.
Rev. George Bede Ajuruchi, SSJ will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2.
Born on July 16, 1940, in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, Melvenia was a compassionate and caring soul who touched the lives of many.
Melvenia will be remembered as a devout Catholic and a faithful parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Her unwavering faith served as a guiding light in her life and inspired those around her.
Melvenia's greatest passion was cooking. She took immense pleasure in ensuring that everyone she met was well-fed and content. Her home was always filled with warm hospitality to anyone that entered.
Melvenia had a deep love for animals and was known to adopt any animal that crossed her path. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond humans, as she provided a loving and caring home for countless furry friends over the years.
She had a special place in her heart for children and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Melvenia took great pride in caring for everyone's kids, treating them as if they were her own. She had a nurturing nature and genuine concern for the well-being of others.
Melvenia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Joseph L. Reynolds; son, Joseph K. Reynolds; grandchild, Christopher S. Reynolds; sister, Rosie St. Julien; nieces, Geraldine Faulk (Francis) and Sonya St. Julien; nephew, Patrick Journet; and great-nephew, Noah Treybig.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank St. Julien and Elvidge Auguillard St. Julien; and daughter-in-law, Patricia L. Reynolds.
