Cecilia - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. ;on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Melvin Junius Pie Ames, 56, who passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia.
In his free time, Pie enjoyed fishing and shooting pool. After graduating from Cecilia High School, he moved to Houston, where he lived most of his life. He recently moved home to Breaux Bridge to be with his family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Shanaka Dalcourt of Breaux Bridge, and Tanyaneka Ames of Houston, TX; two brothers, Lawrence Ames of Breaux Bridge, and Clarence Ames of Houston, TX; three sisters, Connie Carter (John), Patsy Living (Robert), and Beverly Bonhomme (Peter), all of Breaux Bridge; two grandchildren, Janyrah Hypolite and Eric Williams; one uncle, Felton Book Boyd of Breaux Bridge; two aunts, Theresa Auguillard (Mitchell), and Thelma Anderson, all of Houston, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gargle and Genevieve Boyd Ames; and a niece, Becky Simon.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Cecilia from 7 a.m. on Saturday and continue until ;10:30 a.m.
A rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Bonhomme, John Carter, Jr., Lester Sam, Howard Singleton, Robert Living, Jr., and Jonathan Carter.
Honorary pallbearers will be Johnavon Carter, Clifton Hypolite, Terry Williams, Jr., Peter Bonhomme, John Carter, Sr., Robert Living, Sr., and Andrew Gobar.
