Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge for Melvin W.J. Rivers, Sr., 71, who passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Iberia Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 8:30 am until 4:00 pm on Sunday. A rosary will be prayed at 2:00 pm on Sunday. Deacon Ken Soignier will officiate at the Funeral Service. Melvin was a mechanic by trade and loved working on all types of vehicles. He enjoyed fishing, eating out, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his daughters, Wendy Yoder and husband Raymond B. and Amy Rivers and husband Ricky Simon; sons, Toby Rivers and Chance Rivers and wife Lori; brother, Donald Rivers and wife Pat; sister, Elaine Duplechin and husband Ray; grandchildren, Amanda Romero, Jeston Rivers, Collin Yoder, Samantha Bourque, Amber Rivers, Harley Rivers, Kenzie Rivers, Jayse Rivers, Seajee Rivers; Great Grandchildren, Nayton Rivers, Ta'Tiona Brooks, Jabryson Green, and Mitchell Rivers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin John and Gladys Toby Rivers; a son, Melvin W.J. Rivers, Jr.; and sister, Margie Degeyter and Glenda Champagne.
