Cecilia- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Wednesday,October 10, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Mercedes Thibodeaux Fisette, 74, who passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Lafayette General Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Tuesday and continue on Wednesday at 8 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fr. Michael Delcambre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Ashley Collette and Reed Falgout. Gift Bearers will be Brenda and Fred Davis. Entombment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Marion Fisette of Cecilia; three daughters, Brenda Fisette Davis and husband, Fred, Phyllis Fisette Erato and husband, Warren, all of Cecilia; and Sheila Fisette Johnson and husband, Steven, of Broussard; two sisters, Marella Lanerie and Louella Bijeaux, both of Catahoula; six grandchildren, Ashley Erato Collette, Kristen Davis Ledoux, Fred Marion Davis, Steven Charles Johnson, II, Jennifer Johnson Young, and Brandy Erato Talley; and eight great grandchildren, Carson Collette, Lydia Guidry, Ace and Hendrix Ledoux, Jade Domingue, and Kaylie, Karley and Kloe Talley. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alcibiade and Adea Thibodeaux; and her brothers, Ralph, Eddie, Richard, and Harry Lee Thibodeaux. Pallbearers will be Fred Davis, Steven Johnson, Warren Erato, Fred M. Davis, Steven Johnson II, and Dusty Collette. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of Lafayette General Medical Center - Oncology, for the compassionate care given to the entire family during her illness.
