St. Martinville - A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Pellerin Funeral Home for Mary Merline Smith, 75, who passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm on Wednesday, and continue on Thursday at 8:00 am until time of service, at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Wednesday. Deacon Russell Hayes will officiate at the Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Methodist Cemetery in St. Martinville. Merline loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed doing puzzles, watching her game shows, and playing Pokeno with her friends. She is survived by her sons, Daren Smith and wife Peggy, Ricky Smith and girlfriend Jennifer, and Edward Smith and wife Carol; her daughters, Sarah Smith, Irma Jean Rogers and husband William, Lisa Smith, and Arden Smith and fianc Jim McWilliam; her sister, Louise Wiltz and husband Jerry; 17 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Huey Smith, Sr.; her parents, Altimae and Solange LeBlanc Hayes; a son, Huey Smith, Jr.; and her sister, Merly "Caline" Hayes. Pallbearers will be Daren Smith, Ricky Smith, Edward Smith, Patrick Champagne, Ronnie Wiltz, and Keith Arnaud Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Smith Jr., Jacques Smith, Charles Smith, Noah Smith, Jerry Wiltz, William Finney, Jim Bowie, Alonzo Davis, James D. Smith, Shelby Wiltz, Jim McWilliam, William Rogers, Ronnie Smith, Kerry Broussard, Kelly Broussard, Jeremy Broussard, and Trevor Landry.
