St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am, on Monday, July 6, 2020, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, for Michael James Arceneaux, 59, who passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020, at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 12:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday and continue on Monday at 8:00 am until 11:00 am.
A rosary will be prayed by the Men's Rosary Group at 7:00 pm on Sunday.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Loreauville.
Michael was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was a "Jack-of-all-Trades" and enjoyed woodworking, working on cars, and carpentry work. In his spare time, he went camping, fishing, and building and racing his race car. Michael loved his family more than anything and adored his time spent with them, especially his wonderful wife, who stood by him for 40 years of unconditional love and drinking coffee on a daily basis with his sister, Barbara "Ki". He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sheila Arceneaux of New Iberia; sons, Henry Arceneaux of Loreauville and Shawn (Taylor) Arceneaux of New Iberia; daughters, Ashley (Jimmy) Williams of New Iberia and Megan (David) Rineholt of New Iberia; brothers, Forrest Arceneaux, Jr. of Youngsville, Russell (Sara) Arceneaux of Youngsville, Harris Arceneaux of Delcambre, and Alvin (Jenny) Arceneaux of Abbeville; sisters, Audrey (Lester) Blanchard of Youngsville, Yvonne (Neil) Arceneaux of Youngsville, Shirley Arceneaux of Erath, Barbara (Rodney) Poirier of St. Martinville, and Annie (Steven) Blanchard of Breaux Bridge; grandchildren, Gage, Cameron, Evan, Ethan, Kenzie, Brandon, Cooper, Bentley, Emma, Drake, Christian, Tanner; and his fur babies, Penny and Jolie.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Hazel Touchet Arceneaux; and his brothers, Willis Arceneaux. Ricky Arceneaux, and Carroll Arceneaux.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Arceneaux, Henry Arceneaux, Jimmy Williams, Tracey Polk, Alvin Arceneaux, and David Rineholt.
Honorary pallbearers will be Shane David, Alvin Colbert, Harold Bourque, Johnathon Bourque, Morris Champagne, Roland Molbert, and Rodney Poirier.
