St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Friday, September 16, 2011, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Michael Ozeme Bourque, 67, who passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at his residence. Fr. Rusty Richard will officiate at the funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Agnes Smith. Gift bearers will be Carlie Bourque and Alexus Worrel. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery. Mr. Bourque was a mechanic who enjoyed working on cars and took pride in his work. An avid outdoorsman, he was a member of the Catahoula Hunting Club - he loved fishing, hunting, and going to the camp in the Basin every chance that he could. He also loved spending time with his family and friends on any given occasion and most especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. Survivors include his mother, Mathilde Braquet Bourque; three sons, Gregory Bourque, Sr. and his girlfriend, Anna Trahan, Todd Bourque, and Matt Bourque and his girlfriend, Tomeika Arnaud; his daughter, Jennifer Bourque Dugas and her husband, David, all of St. Martinville; three brothers, L.P. Bourque and his wife, Maria, Leon 'T-Bit' Bourque and his wife, Mary, all of St. Martinville, and Richard Bourque and his wife, Janelle, of Lafayette; ten grandchildren, Krista Dugas, Kayla Dugas, Skylar Jacquet, Cheyenne Bourque, Taylor Bourque, Carlie Bourque, Alexus Worrel, Hunter Bourque, Gregory Bourque, Jr., and Rylie Bourque; and one great grandson, Kyan Joseph Batiste. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Anna 'Mim' Romero Bourque; his father, Elmo Bourque, Sr.; his brother, Elmo Bourque, Jr.; two sisters, Lucy Bourque and Mathilde Romero; brother-in-law, Ulysses Romero; mother-in-law, Eunice Romero; father-in-law, Eldier Romero; and sister-in-law, Rita Theriot. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Thursday, and continue on Friday at 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Pallbearers will be his sons, Gregory Bourque, Sr., Todd Bourque, and Matt Bourque; his son-in-law, David Dugas; and his nephews, Lee Dugas and Darren Bourque. Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers, L.P. Bourque, Leon 'T-Bit' Bourque and Richard Bourque; his grandsons, Gregory Bourque, Jr. and Hunter Bourque; and his cousin and best friend, Bobby Albert.
