Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Michael Wayne Menard, 59, who passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at The Carpenter House - St. Joseph Hospice. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Friday and continue on Saturday at 9:00 am until 12:30 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Friday. Rev. Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Service. Readers will be Sheila Champagne and Pennye Bergeron. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette. Michael was born November 30, 1959 in Lafayette. He loved classic rock music and enjoyed going to rock concerts. He always talked about the time Melody and Stewart Lemoine took him on the Ship Rock Cruise; he had a blast and Michael and his family were so grateful for that trip. Michael also enjoyed crabbing and going to sporting events, especially for the Saints and UL. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his son, Rusty Jude Menard; brother, Lloyd Menard and wife Linda; sister, Joyce Champagne and husband Hobson; sister-in-law, Hazel Menard; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Guidry Menard; parents, Thomas C. and Rose Mae Lasseigne Menard; sister, Gloria Walters and her husband Roland; brothers, Chester Menard and Lester Menard; and nephew, Kevin Walters. Pallbearers will be Bobby Menard, Coby Champagne, Ryan Guidry, Chad Lewis, Stewart Lemoine, and Robert Waits. Honorary pallbearers will be Quinton Knott, Gavin Sonnier, and Mikie Menard. The family would like to give a special thanks to The Carpenter House - St. Joseph Carpenter House for the compassionate care given to Michael and also to the employees of Cajun Market Donut for always brightening his day every morning.
