Michael "Mike" Trahan, Sr.

Cecilia, Louisiana - Michael "Mike" Trahan, Sr., 70, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024.

Mike was a lifelong resident of Cecilia, Louisiana. He became interested in firefighting and served for many years as a volunteer in the Cecilia Fire Dept., eventually rising to the rank of Fire Chief. During his time as Chief, he grew the department and implemented several programs including Medical First Responder and partnered with Cecilia High School to train qualified students to be able to respond to emergencies during daytime hours when available manpower was low.

He loved speaking Cajun French and did so anytime he had the chance. He never missed an opportunity to be outdoors and thoroughly enjoyed cooking anything "rice and gravy".

He will be mourned and missed by those closest to him.

Mike is survived by his sons, Michael Trahan, Jr. (Katie) and Joshua Trahan (Michael Jumonville); daughters, Lindsey Sassau (Corey) and Shea Arceneaux; grandchildren, Gabrielle Champagne, Corey, Jr., Jaylon, Kaydence and Tristan Sassau, and Millicent Trahan; and his sisters, Pearl Latiolais and Nancy Huval.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert “Bud” and Emma Savoy Trahan; his beloved wife, Cheriee Collins Trahan; brother, Nelson Trahan; and his nephew, Lon Latiolais.
