New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church in New Iberia for Michael Karl Pitre, 57, who died Friday, July 1, 2011 in Lafayette .
Entombment will be in Nativity of Our Lady Mausoleum.
Rev. Donald Pelous will be the Celebrant.
Born on December 27, 1953 , Mr. Pitre was a self employed refrigeration mechanic, and proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. An avid NASCAR fan, he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, and woodworking.
Survivors include his children, Michael Latten Pitre and wife Susan of New Iberia, Brandie Pitre Mitchell and husband Curtis of Mauriceville, Texas; step children, Chris Hudson and wife Meika of Youngsville, Jarrod Hudson of New Iberia, Tracey Barras and husband Lee of New Iberia; father, Murry Joseph Pitre of Baton Rouge; sister, Sandra Pitre Touchet and husband Norman Gene Touchet of Erath; 7 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Guidry Pitre; mother, Jeanette Miller Pitre; grandson, Cameron Wayne Mitchell; grandparents, Joseph Latten Pitre, Bible LeJeune, and Olivia Beaugh.
Pallbearers will be Michael Pitre, Chris Hudson, Jarrod Hudson, Curtis Mitchell, Lee Barras, Norman Gene Touchet, Don Delahoussaye, and John Raymond Bourque.
A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd , in New Iberia . A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Tuesday. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 8:00 AM until 1:30 PM .
