New Iberia - Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 14, 2020, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Michael Lee Sundberg, Sr., 65, who passed away on Monday, August 10, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Interment will follow at Beau Pre Cemetery in Jeanerette.
Rev. Korey LaVergne will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday, and will continue on Friday from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.
A rosary, led by the Men's Rosary Group, will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Thursday.
Michael Lee Sundberg, Sr. was born in Franklin, Louisiana on December 28, 1954. He was a 1973 graduate of Jeanerette Senior High, and retired from the City of New Iberia. Michael loved fishing and shooting pool, and he had a fierce love for his family. In the eyes of his family, he was stronger than Superman, having overcome so much throughout his life. Mr. Sundberg was a loving husband, Daddy, Poppa, uncle, brother and friend and will be deeply missed.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his best friend and loving wife of 40 years, Linda Faye Romero Sundberg of New Iberia; children Tanya Marie Sundberg (fiancee Jonas Hamilton) of Youngsville; Heather Marie White (Samuel White, Jr. ) of Maurice, Michael Lee Sundberg, Jr. (Christin) of New Iberia, and Dancee Renee Sundberg of Maurice; siblings, Deborah Houston, Vern Sundberg (Donna), Rebecca Sundberg, Danny Sundberg, and Barry Sundberg (Dottie); grandchildren, Devon Romero, Caylin Romero, Kelsie White, James White, Kainen Sundberg, and Hannah White; and special friends, Ricky Delcambre and Reginald Haase.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Lee Sundberg, Sr.; mother, Emma Dell Frederick Meche; brother, Jerry Lee Sundberg, Jr.; maternal grandparents, Mitchell and Valerie Frederick; paternal grandparents, Harles and Della Mae Houston, and Vernon and Birdie Sundberg; his in-laws, Clevis and Julia Romero; and a brother-in-law, Clevis Romero, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Heather White, Tanya Sundberg, Michael Sundberg, Jr., Dancee Sundberg, Caylin Romero, James White, Samuel White, Jr., and Jonas Hamilton.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Hope Hospice for extraordinary care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family to help offset expenses.
