Michael Lynn Thornhill

Lydia - Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Michael L. Thornhill, 66, who passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 6, 2017. A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home from 12:00 pm until 3:00 pm on Wednesday. Rev. Keith Landry will be the Celebrant. Iberia Honor Guard will provide military honors following the service. Interment will follow at a later date. A native of Shreveport and a longtime resident of New Iberia, Michael Lynn Thornhill was born on April 23, 1951 to the late Mary Elizabeth Lloyd and Cecil R. Thornhill. He was a 1969 graduate of Scott High School, and proudly served our country in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. Michael enjoyed playing golf and bass fishing in his spare time, but what he cherished most was time spent with family. Mr. Thornhill is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Sylvia Miller Thornhill; sons, Cory Thornhill and wife Thuy of New Iberia, and Tracey Thornhill and wife Shannon of Lafayette; sisters, Sandy Goss and husband Tim of Houston, Ginger Thompson of Shreveport, and Penny Torres and husband Luis of Lantana, TX; brothers, Ronnie D. Thornhill, Greg Thornhill and wife Hattie, and Rodney Thornhill and wife Nell, all of Shreveport; sisters-in-law, Debra Thornhill of TX, and Judy Blanchard and husband Bobby of Lafayette; three grandchildren, Logan Thornhill of Lafayette, Charlotte Thornhill of New Iberia, and Luke Nguyen of New Iberia; mother-in-law, Emily Laviolette of Lafayette, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Randy Thornhill.
