New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, on Thursday, February 25, 2016, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia, for Michael A. Trahan, 74, who passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2016 in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
Mr. Kenneth Wright will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Trahan was born on January 1, 1942 to Wesley and Edvidge "Blackie" Trahan. He attended St. Peter's College and was a 1959 graduate of New Iberia Senior High, and then proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Trigger Submarine. Mr. Trahan retired from Exxon after 20 years of service, and was the owner of Buccaneer Trucking leased to Acme Truck Lines. He enjoyed playing softball, sports, and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Janenne Hedberg Trahan of New Iberia; sons, Jerry Jan Trahan and wife Melissa of New Iberia, Lee M. Trahan of New Iberia; grandchildren, Savannah Trahan, Katherine Trahan, Olivia Trahan; brother, Steve Trahan and wife Ronda of New Iberia; sisters, Diane Trahan of New Iberia, Susan Boutte of Lafayette, and Lucille "Bea" Theriot of Breaux Bridge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Alix Trahan, and Dorville and Natalie Derise.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Trahan, Kirk Trahan, Joshua Trahan, Phil Boutte, Lee Trahan, and Kim Touchet.
Honorary pallbearers include Steve Trahan, Shane Trahan, Sean Trahan, Craig Boutte, and Jennifer Trahan.
