New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Minos "George" Girard, 80, who passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
Rev. Buddy Breaux will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary, led by the Men's Rosary Group, will be prayed at 7:00 PM Friday. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM.
A lifelong area resident, Mr. Girard was born on October 24, 1936 in Delcambre to the late Lues and Ella Migues Girard. He worked in the oilfield most of his life, and his hobbies included gardening. Mr. Girard cherished moments spent with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Evelyn Moreaux Girard of New Iberia; daughters, Sheila Romero of New Iberia, Tammy Vincent and husband Bobby of New Iberia, Michelle Speer and husband Paul of New Iberia, Lisa Pisani and husband Chuck of Broussard; sons, Clayton Girard and wife Jackie of New Iberia, Michael Girard and wife Melinda of New Iberia; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronnie Girard, Raoul Girard, Wilson Girard, Frank Girard; sisters, Marie Bourque, Lula Mae Renard, Hilda Theriot, Angela Theriot, and Adella Landry; grandchildren, Matthew Romero, and Jenna Girard.
Pallbearers will be Clayton Girard, Michael Girard, Bobby Vincent, Brad Romero, Chuck Pisani, and Joshua Romero.
