Lydia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia for Mitchell J. Rochon, 66, who passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Rev. Gregory Chauvin will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia on Saturday from 8:00 am until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 10:00 am on Saturday.
A native of New Iberia, Mr. Rochon was born on June 24, 1951 to the late John Rochon and Marie Zenobia Boutte Rochon. He worked for Shell Oil Company, and he loved being outside, gardening, cutting his grass, and riding his motorcycle.
He is survived by his lifelong companion, Lisa Nelson of St. Martinville; brothers, Ernest Rochon and wife Charlene of Scott, Randy T. Rochon, Sr. and wife Shawna of Baton Rouge; sisters, Ethel R. Lewis of Austin, Texas, Linda R. Provost and husband Matthew of New Iberia, Bertha R. Provost and husband Lester of New Iberia; special son, Eugene Olivier, Jr. and wife Amy of New Iberia; godchild, Misty M. Rochon of Lafayette; special sister-in-law, Marcella Rochon of New Iberia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, John Wilmer Rochon, Adolph Joseph Rochon, Paul Wilbert Rochon, Samuel O'Neal Rochon, and a special brother-in-law, Gregory LeBlanc.
