Breaux Bridge - Mona Thibodeaux LeBlanc, 95, of Redding, CT passed away January 13, 2016 at Western Medical Center in Warrensburg, MO while battling pneumonia. Mona Mausie LeBlanc, daughter of Norton Thibodeaux and Norma Castille Arnold, and loving wife of Alfred Freddie LeBlanc was surrounded by family at the time of her passing. Mona is survived by her three children, Tama LeBlanc Ray and husband, Robert James Ray III of Redding, CT, Thomas Alfred LeBlanc and wife, Anne Turnage LeBlanc of Sterling, VA, and Mark Edward LeBlanc and wife, Maria LoConte LeBlanc of Fairfax, VA. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Katy B. Bachelot and husband, Clark Conrad Bachelot of Fort Worth, TX, Master Sergeant USAF Matthew Clayton Coltrin and wife Renee C. Coltrin of Warrensburg, MO, Nicole Angelique LeBlanc of Fairfax, VA, Michele Dominique LeBlanc of Fairfax, VA, John Pierre LeBlanc of Fairfax, VA, and Jeanne Marie LeBlanc of Fairfax, VA. Mona is survived by three great grandchildren, Katelyn Grace Bachelot, daughter of Katy B. Bachelot and Clark Conrad Bachelot, and Matthew Clayton Coltrin and Charles Anthony Coltrin, sons of Master Sergeant Matthew Clayton Coltrin and Renee C. Coltrin.
Mona Mausie LeBlanc was born in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana on April 30, 1920. She had an older brother, Lieutenant Thomas Hyde Thibodeaux United States Air Force (P 51 pilot,) who preceded her in death. Mona married Alfred Freddie LeBlanc on July 20, 1949 at Saint Bernard Catholic Church, Breaux Bridge, LA. She lived in both Breaux Bridge and Lafayette, LA before moving to Lake Charles in 1956 where she resided for over 56 years. In 2013 she relocated to Redding, CT with her daughter, Tama LeBlanc Ray, and son-in-law, Robert James Ray III.
Mona received her B.S. degree as a cum laude graduate from Southwest Louisiana University (University of Lafayette Louisiana) and her Masters of Education in Business from McNeese State University. She taught Business Education at Edgar, Cecilia, and Breaux Bridge High Schools. She retired from LaGrange Senior High with over 21 years teaching experience.
Mona held memberships in: American Legion Auxiliary, Breaux Bridge (Unit LA #0133),Calcasieu Cameron Retired Teachers, Lake Area University Women, Louisiana Retired Teachers, Diggers and Weeders Garden Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, Tri Delta (Delta, Delta Delta), and AARP.
In her 95 years, Mona lived life to its fullest and served as an inspirational matriarch to her family. Mona enjoyed traveling and visited numerous destinations across the globe. She also enjoyed gardening and needlepoint and joyfully shared these passions with her children and grandchildren. Mausie, an avid reader, was rarely seen without a book or her Kindle. She wanted her grandchildren to develop a love for reading as well, so she made sure they received their Highlights Magazine each month and would often complete the Mini Page of the local newspaper with them. This tradition, was even enjoyed by her great-grandchildren. Mona was also known for her uncanny ability to master every crossword puzzle she faced. Above all, Monas unyielding faith was a driving force throughout her life and inspired all those she encountered. Mona enjoyed attending weekly Mass with her family, and regularly prayed the rosary and daily devotions. Mona Mausie LeBlanc was a woman of sophistication, grace and love, and she will be greatly missed by her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., on Monday, January 18, 2016, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 18, 2016, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge.
Fr. Brian Webre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge.
