Mona D. Menard

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 pm, on Friday, September 25, 2015, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Mona DelaHoussaye Menard, 91, who passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2015, at Maison de Lafayette. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:30 am until 2:30 pm on Friday, at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville. A rosary will be prayed at 2 pm on Friday. Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Angie Orellana, Devin Orellana, and Meghan Menard. Gift Bearers will be Regan Perrodin, Austin Menard, and Jordan Colvin. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Mrs. Menard was the owner and President of Manning Menard Oil Company and M/M Shops, Inc., companies that she and her late husband, Manning, started in 1959. She was a devout Catholic who was known for her generosity and continuous financial support of various charitable organizations that included: St. Theresa Catholic Church, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and St. Joseph Indian Mission. She was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be sorrowfully missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her son, John Menard, M.D. and wife Debbie of Tuscaloosa, AL; her daughters, Brenda Harman and husband Randy of Youngsville, Lauren Menard, Ed.D. of Lafayette, and Janet Perrodin and husband Alan of Lafayette; 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Manning Menard; her parents, Rene and Elizabeth Dwyer DelaHoussaye; her daughter, Marcia Colvin; a grandchild, Alyssa Harman; her brothers, Ernest "Ben" DelaHoussaye and Allen DelaHoussaye; and her sisters, Mable Smith, Josephine "Jo" Broussard, Hazel Tullier, Maudrey Blanchard, and Marion Angelle. Pallbearers will be Greg Harman, Brandon Winmill, Gabe Orellana, Jonathan Menard, Corey Winmill, Grayson Menard, Christian Menard, and Michael Orellana. Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Harman, Tim Harman, Randy Harman, and Alan Perrodin. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Carmelite Monastery, Attn: Sister Aimee, 1250 Carmel Dr., Lafayette, LA 70501.
