Parks - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. , Saturday, November 12, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parks for Monita Dugas Mouton, 93, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 10, 2011, at Lafayette General Medical Center, with her beloved family by her side. Father Ed Degeyter will officiate at the funeral Mass, Deacon Greg Mouton will serve as Concelebrant. Scriptures will be read by Ryan Daniels and Hannah Allain. Gift Bearers will be Sarah Howard and Ginger Stelly. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. 'Moon,' as she was affectionately known to relatives and friends, was blessed to have celebrated a beautiful 93rd birthday on Monday, November 7th - receiving well-wishes throughout the day from her family and friends. She treasured the many occasions she could spend with her family, whom she adored and loved unconditionally. Monita was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends to enjoy, and she especially loved decorating her home for the holidays. In her free time she enjoyed reading, traveling, sightseeing, and going dancing with the love of her life for the past 72 years, her husband, Harry. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who will be sorrowfully missed by her family and friends. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parks and a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Survivors include her loving husband, Harry Mouton, Sr. of Parks; three sons, Kenneth Mouton and his wife, Sandra, Harry Mouton, Jr. and his wife, Dale, all of Breaux Bridge, and Greg Mouton and his wife, Sharon, of Houston, TX; two daughters, Judy M. Johnson and her husband, Cedrick, of Youngsville, and Tammy Allain and her husband, Chris, of Lafayette; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ludovic and Cornelia Hebert Dugas; three granddaughters, Elizabeth, Melissa, and Jessica; and two great grandchildren, Madison and Jeremy. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge from 3:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday, and continue on Saturday at 7 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. A Rosary will be recited by Deacon Marcel 'Butch' Hebert at 7 p.m. on Friday. Pallbearers will be Harry Mouton, Jr., Kenneth Mouton, Cedric Johnson, Chris Allain, Craig Daniels, and Brent Mouton.
