Mrs. Herman Gesser Jr. the former Faye Mar

New Iberia - A funeral mass for Mrs. Herman Gesser Jr., the former Faye Marie Taggart, 65, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in New Iberia, with Fathers Gary Schexnayder and Charles E. Langlois concelebrating. ?Internment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia. ?Visitation will be held at Pellerin Funeral Home of New Iberia. ?The family requests visiting hours be observed from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2006, and will resume from 10.00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2006. ?A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday. ? Mrs. Gesser, a native of Gadsden, Alabama and a longtime resident of New Iberia, died on Friday, June 2, 2006 at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia. ?She was born August 10, 1940, in Gadsden, Alabama. ?She graduated from Gadsden High School in 1958 and attended Dominican College in New Orleans. ? She was a wonderful homemaker and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. ?She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, bridge and gardening. ?She was a member and past president of Fortnightly VI and former queen of the Krewe of Andalusia. ?She was also a member of the ""Bridge Girls"" Club, the Wednesday Sewing Club and Monday's Rosary Group. Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Herman Gesser Jr.; daughter, Debbie Gesser Gautreau Ryback and spouse, Kurt M. Ryback of Greensboro, NC; son, Herman ""Bubba"" Gesser III of Washington, D.C.; daughter, Cathy Gesser Blappert and spouse, Dr. Brad M. Blappert of Lafayette, LA; three grandchildren, Adam T. Gautreau, Grant H. Gautreau and Caroline A. Gautreau; and one brother, Dr. Charles E. Taggart of Mandeville, LA. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Courtney Anne Gesser; and her parents, Charles E. Taggart and Edna Casey Taggart. Pallbearers will be Dr. Brad Blappert, Adam Gautreau, Grant Gautreau, Byron Gesser, Edgar Gesser, Gerald Gesser, Kurt Ryback and Dr. Charles Taggart. ?Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. G. Douglas Sagrera, longtime friend and caregiver. Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation (www.arthritis.org), Catholic High Endowment Fund or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
