New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Friday, March 14, 2008, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, in New Iberia for Mrs. Michael "Rona" Breaux, 68, who died Tuesday, March 11, 2008 in New Iberia.
Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant. Readers will be Shelly Breaux and Delores "Tut" Dartez. Gift Bearers include Mrs. Breaux's grandchildren and Elsie "Pookie" Armentor.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Breaux was a graduate of Mt. Carmel, and worked for Delaune's Pharmacy for 40 years. She enjoyed baking, playing golf and entertaining. A devout Christian, she was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Breaux, Jr. of New Iberia; mother, Annie Bergeron Maturin of New Iberia; son, Glenn Michael Breaux and wife Shelly of Nederland, Texas; daughter, Wendy Gilfoil and husband Jamie of Magnolia, Texas; brother, Elwood P. Bergeron of Bridge City, Texas; grandchildren, Joshua Breaux, Cade Breaux, Alex Gilfoil, and Hannah Gilfoil; aunts, Nelwin Vaughn and husband Allen of Loreauville, Thelma Barbier of Lafayette; uncles, Doris Gary and wife Lorena of New Iberia, Wilbert Gary and wife Melba of New Iberia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father, Woodland Bergeron; and her sister-in-law, Delores Bergeron.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Breaux, Kevin Bergeron, Jerry Wallace, Leroy Breaux, Collins "Cot" Breaux, and Sim Armentor.
Honorary pallbearers include Cade Breaux, Elwood Bergeron, Cyrus Gary, Jim Caruthers, Raymond Domingue.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jacob Lahasky and Ignance "Iggy" Landry RN, Helen Kilchrist and staff of Hospice of Acadiana, Jerry and Audrey Wallace, Willa Boudreaux and staff of Delaune's Pharmacy, Godchild Gail Hebert, Jeanne and Collins Cot Breaux, Elsie "Pookie", Sim and Farrell Armentor, Una and Roy Breaux, Mary and Cyrus Gary, Jim and Jean Caruthers, Delores "Tut" Dartez for their compassion, prayers and care given during Mrs. Breauxs illness.
A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, from 2:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Thursday, led by Peggy Tauzin. Visitation will continue Thursday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM at the funeral home.
