MSGT Jackie P. Segura

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Jackie Patrick Segura, 82, who passed away on Monday, November 22, 2021.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 2:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Friday, and continue on Saturday at 7:00 am until 9:30 am.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Friday.

Rev. Bill Melancon will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial. Readers will be Courtney Simar and Megan Duplechain. Gift bearers will be Amanda McCarty, Sydni Duplechain and Leah Duplechain.

Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery Mausoleum in St. Martinville where a full military service by the United States Army will be presented.

Jackie was born March 13, 1939, in New Iberia, LA. He honorably served and retired with the United States Army as a Master Sergeant. He was a faithful life member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Cursillo #315. Jackie was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Rita Catholic Church where he served as an Eucharistic Minister.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, tending to his fish, and letting his dog, "Krissy" swim in the pond. He was an avid fan of LSU and UL sports. Family was everything to him and he cherished his time spent with them, especially watching his grandchildren grow into the extraordinary individuals they have become.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Margaret P. Segura of St. Martinville; sons, Terry Segura (Diane) of Bandera and Mark Segura (Dawn) of St. Martinville; daughters, Bethany Duplechain (Felix) of Loreauville and Robynne Laperouse (Jeffery) of St. Martinville; grandchildren, Courtney Simar (Jeremy), Megan Duplechain (Trent), Danielle Delahoussaye (Brendon), Brittany Koenning (Stefan), Jesse Duplechain, Jack Segura, James Segura (Emerson), Kristen Laperouse (Trey), Noah Segura (Fernando), Jude Duplechain, Amanda McCarty (Austin), Sydni Duplechain and Leah Duplechain; great grandchildren, Annie, Harvey, Elijah, Jeffery, Gracelyn, Evan, Margaret, and two on the way, Aimes and Sawyer; and sister, Sonja Saddler.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Segura; mother, Marie Melancon Segura; brothers, Johnny Segura, Bracey Segura, Alife "Al" Segura and Paul Segura; and sister, Anna Rae Peltier.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Duplechain, Jack Segura, James Segura, Noah Segura, Jude Duplechain and Nick Gonzales.
